Centre for Higher Education and Equity (CHEER) Doctoral Studentship:
Graduate Teaching/Research Assistant

Applications are invited for a CHEER Graduate Teaching and Research
Assistant to commence in October 2012 for one, two or three years. The
studentship covers doctoral UK/EU tuition fees for up to three years plus a
bursary currently worth £7000 per annum.

Applications are welcome from outstanding +3 PhD candidates whose research
interests align well with those of CHEER (see
http://www.sussex.ac.uk/education/research/cheer for more details).

Applications may be from those applying to start doctoral study and from
those already doing so. It is a condition of the GTA studentship that the
holder is registered as a doctoral student within the School of Education
and Social Work and that they are supervised by CHEER members.

that candidates can demonstrate that they have undertaken Master’s level
social science research methods training.

The studentship holder will contribute eight hours a week during term time
towards CHEER-related work. This could involve the following
activities:

  • teaching and research;
  • assisting faculty with e-learning developments, virtual learning environment etc;
  • assisting with research dissemination through production of newsletters and updating websites;
  • supporting research seminars;
  • undertaking related activities such as literature reviews to support bids as agreed with the centre directors.
