Biografie

I was born in Izmir, Turkey, on November 28, 1991. My educational journey began at Izmir Institute of Technology, where I pursued a degree in Chemical Engineering. Following that, I furthered my studies at the same university, specializing in Biotechnology for my master's degree. In 2020, I embarked on my doctoral studies in Wuppertal, Germany, becoming a member of the Delaittre Lab within the field of Organic Functional (Macro)Molecules.

Title: Synthesis of Functionalized Polymer Nanoparticles via Aqueous RAFT-Mediated Polymerization-Induced Self-Assembly

Abstract: Polymerization-induced self-assembly (PISA) is an alternative strategy to the conventional solution self-assembly process and enables the synthesis of diverse block copolymer nano-objects at relatively high solid contents. In a typical PISA process, the solvophilic polymer, that acts as a stabilizer for the formed latex and prevents coagulation, undergoes chain extension via reversible-deactivation polymerization (e.g., RAFT polymerization) in the presence of a core-forming monomer forming a solvophobic block. The PISA simultaneously self-assembly of the resulting amphiphilic block copolymer leads to the formation of nano-objects with various morphologies, where often no post-purification steps are required after successfully reaching complete conversion of core-forming monomers. In this work, the aim was to obtain nanoparticles decorated with functional random copolymers, which combine the properties of the individual homopolymers.
